L'Ultimo Bacio

Go see it. Go see it before you see the American adaptation starring Zach Braff. Go see it and understand why American rip-offs of something written in a foreign language lose so much more their original meaning. Go see it and realize that you could appreciate this film even more if you spoke Italian. Go see it and scoff in the face of feminists who consider it a chauvinistic male movie and yet praise Sex and the City because you realize that they have only hairy bodies and no actual taste and appreciation for anything. Go see it and enjoy it for the two hours that you spend in front of the TV. Go see it to laugh and cry and yell at the characters.

But don't go see it and expect to come out of it with some sort of revelation. It is, after all, a comedic drama.

Who ya with?!

Growing up 30 minutes from Athens, GA I was surrounded by and essentially forced to become a UGA fan. Don't get me wrong, UGA has a wonderful and winning football tradition. There's just something about going to see a game between the hedges, surrounded by thousands of rabid, redneck and of course, racist football fans. Despite all that growing up, I gave up my beloved Dawgs and went to college where its football tradition in the SEC is storied up until about 1960. Sure Vandy had a great win over UT last year in Knoxville, but that UT team was a skeleton of the great teams that the Vols have ever fielded. Saturday will be a day that I won't soon forget. Who knows? Maybe we will make it to a bowl game before I die.

Oh, and the Falcons offense was horrible yesterday against the Giants. I guess you can't win them all...

Music Appreciation Day...

One time, when I was on one of my long road trips, I was listening to a Weekly Country Countdown show on the radio when a listener called in and proclaimed country music to be the best type because it speaks to the soul. She added something about how country artists can take what everyday people are feeling in any situation and put words to music. Looking back on it now, I think that the listener's thoughts can be applied to any genre of music. I'm sure that she felt that way about country because it was the main format that she listened to.

I'm not sure if it's because that I'm older now and that I've had more life experiences but I have started to hear songs on my iPod and immediately my thought race back to a prior point in my life. I'm not even isolating those memories to large events in my life, but also reminded of feelings and people that I've had the privilege to experience. I've always been a fan of the "iPod Quizzes" where you set the thing on random and see what song plays for a pre-determined list. I guess I really don't need the random function to help me out with those anymore. Just for fun though I think I'm going to take one of those lists and see what I'd plug in for those events. I might even take it a step further and see if I can associate a song with most of my friends.

"When you think Tim McGraw, I hope you think of me."

Thought...

"Never regret a day in your life. Good days give you happiness; bad days give you experiences; both are essential to life."

I guess today will be a day of experiences.

So which is it?

My friend Carmen and I were talking during lunch today and she brought up a good point. She was telling me about a friend of hers who had someone that she broke up with come back into her life. Long story short - the friend asked Carmen for advice and what Carmen told her was that she really didn't miss the guy, she just missed the feeling that he brought to the table in their relationship.

That got me to thinking about things in my own personal life of late. Do I really miss someone after the relationship ends or do I just missing the feeling that's associated with her?

I'm pretty sure it's the first one so I'm not going down without a fight. The other guy may be better looking and have abs of steel but I'm pretty sure that I've got a John Cusack, Say Anything, In Your Eyes type move in me that's good for something.
