Music Appreciation Day...
One time, when I was on one of my long road trips, I was listening to a Weekly Country Countdown show on the radio when a listener called in and proclaimed country music to be the best type because it speaks to the soul. She added something about how country artists can take what everyday people are feeling in any situation and put words to music. Looking back on it now, I think that the listener's thoughts can be applied to any genre of music. I'm sure that she felt that way about country because it was the main format that she listened to.
I'm not sure if it's because that I'm older now and that I've had more life experiences but I have started to hear songs on my iPod and immediately my thought race back to a prior point in my life. I'm not even isolating those memories to large events in my life, but also reminded of feelings and people that I've had the privilege to experience. I've always been a fan of the "iPod Quizzes" where you set the thing on random and see what song plays for a pre-determined list. I guess I really don't need the random function to help me out with those anymore. Just for fun though I think I'm going to take one of those lists and see what I'd plug in for those events. I might even take it a step further and see if I can associate a song with most of my friends.
"When you think Tim McGraw, I hope you think of me."

All so true. Music plays a very important part in our lives. For me, it's like I have a soundtrack to my life. As cheesy as that sounds, it really is true.
