Happy Turkey Day everyone!! Don't forget that all we're really celebrating though is the fact that some WASPs got kicked out of their own country, came over here, landed on Plymouth Rock, almost died due to their own stupidity, Brer Rabbited some local folks into helping them, had a party, and ended up killing those nice, helpful, indigenous folks with European diseases or forcing them out of their homes to places like Oklahoma or Nevada.

Back home...

Whew!! After two long weeks on the road, I finally got to sleep in my own bed again. Nothing says the comforts of home like being able to sleep in and not be awoke by the sound of, "Tap, tap, tap...HOUSEKEEPING!!!" Don't get me wrong...I definitely enjoyed expensing all of my meals at trendy restaurants and whatnot but still it was nice to be home, sleep in my own bed, and have a marathon session of Halo 2.

Still, after being on the road, I've decided that Denver would be an awesome place to live. 16th Street was a lot of fun and while at times was obviously very touristy, is really convenient and full of cool bars. The best part is, they have all the major pro sports and the cost of living isn't that expensive. Ah, and a question for all you females out there, answer me this: When did playing video games become such a cool thing with attractive women? I swear I was having the most random "geek" conversation with a guy at the hotel bar and then before I knew it, there was a whole group of mid-twenties professionals that were sitting around chatting about Halo 2. The kicker is, the number of females present totally outnumbered the guys and I actually got someone's phone number out of it. What the heck is up with that?! When I was in high school, no one ever admitted to playing video games since it was associated with those card games that were definitely not cool in suburbia.

Anyway, back to my boring life working at the CDC. I sure had fun at the taxpayers’ expense. Too bad I can't do it forever unless I run for public office.

Oh yeah and Vandy lost again to UT 38-33. Am I ever going to see them beat UT in my lifetime? I guess I should just be happy that we didn't get shutout again like we did the last 3 times we played

On the road again...

I'm back in New Orleans this week for a conference and two things bug me about it. One, Halo 2 comes out tomorrow and I'm obviously going to head out and pick up a copy even though I can't play it. (I guess it's too dumb to ask if there's such a thing as an XBOX emulator that I can install on my laptop that would allow me to play it right?) Two, trying to catch up with all my friends is great but am I supposed to be in two working or treating this as a free vacation? Most people I've talked to say that they never go to more than a couple of lectures during a conference but should I really be spending the taxpayer’s money this way?

I'm off to Denver next week so that's another week that I won't be able to play Halo 2. I'm thinking I might go with some drastic measures and pick up an extra XBOX just so I can play it...

2004 Voting Results

Okay so after I waited in line for about 3 hours yesterday just to vote, I then proceeded to stay up until 3:30 waiting to see what the bumblefucks in Ohio were going to do, only to have the jackasses in Iowa and New Mexico to screw it up. So I get to work today and have to find out via CNN.com that Kerry calls to concede. I mean WTF, I stay up all night to celebrate or drown my sorrows "real time" and can't do it here at work obviously. Anyway, here's to GW and Kerry for putting on an entertaining show these last few months.

Oh and by the way, I guess P. Diddy didn't threaten to kill enough voters in the 18-24 age range with his "Vote or Die" business because voter turnout in that group was identical this year as it was in 2004. Just food for thought.

BTW, after seeing the two families on stage giving their concession and victory speeches, I've decided that for the next election, if John McCain doesn't run, I'm going to base my vote solely on whose family is more attractive.
