Le Tour?

It's more like Le Farce if you ask me.

Vinokourov fails doping test

I've been a long time fan of cycling and always enjoyed watching these guys pedal up mountains that most cars have a hard time getting up and hell I'd probably have trouble walking up. These guys are world class athletes that can do amazing things on two wheels. But, when it comes down to it, these guys are looking more and more like a bunch of doped up ponies for the third race at Pimlico. Sure they're all trying to get an edge on something that most of us can't do but what kind of idiots try to slide in under the radar when the whole sport is already under serious scrutiny? Doesn't it register at some point when you're leading a stage and know you're going to get screened that maybe you should back it down a bit and NOT win the stage if you're going to cheat?

Anyone want to buy a used Trek road bike?

So after 6 months...

...of living here in Vegas, it finally rained. Sure, when I moved here in January it was snowing, but to wait another 6 months before any more meaningful precipitation is a little weird for me. Don't get me wrong, this wasn't like NOLA rain nor did it last more than 10 minutes but still, it was nice to see the rain. The only downside - Vegas drivers, who probably are already among the worst in the nation become even worse at the sight of rain. Now the slick roads don't do them any favors (since the oil tends to build up when there's no rain) but still, you'd think common sense would prevail.

Then again, someone who chooses to move to the desert probably was devoid of any to begin with. Le sigh.

Welcome Back Frank!

Contrary to previous reports, PostSecret is not gone for good. Looks like Frank just needed a week to step away from it all.

It's a good thing because I don't know what I would have done to amuse myself Monday mornings if this had gone away.

The End of Post Secret?

As I've mentioned in my previous entires, one of my secret pleasures is to read the new postcards that are posted here every Sunday. To my surprise, when I logged on this morning to check out the new postings, the postings from the previous week were still there. Apparently the reason for the lack of new "secrets" is this card:

It seems that some of the other readers aren't too happy about what was confessed and if you read the comments section on the actual site, you can see exactly how unhappy some of these folks are. I guess the result of all this is that Frank has decided not to post anymore of the postcards that he received and the contact info for the suicide helpline is also now no longer on the site. Hopefully things calm down after a while and the site resumes.

My secret for the day: I hate those of you that might have caused the site to shutdown. Asshats.
