The Long Drive Part 1...

Well I started my drive from Atlanta to Las Vegas on Sunday. The weather sucked because it rained all the way from Atlanta, thru Tennessee, and pretty much all the way to Arkansas. My dad's making the trip out with me which is a welcome thing. Initially I thought that it would be hell sitting in the car with him for 4 days, not because I don't like him, but rather since I couldn't enjoy any tobacco products during 10 hour driving sessions. I've been sneaking in a dip at night and that's held me over. I guess I'm just a recreational user since I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms. Maybe I'll use this as a springboard to quit.

Some notes about the drive:

1. I miss Nashville. Driving through town on Sunday and seeing the city brought back lots of great memories from college.
2. There is nothing of substance in Arkansas, Oklahoma or North Texas.
3. Sonic has a HUGE corporate headquarters building in OKC.
4. I had no idea that it was possible to purchase 86 octane gasoline. Apparently they have it in podunk Texas.
5. The SEC dominates college football.
6. It was a good idea to buy the 4Runner.
7. My dad is a constant learner. In the last few days we've listened/watched a ton of football and he's full of questions.
8. Apparently I CAN live without the internet.
9. I'm ready for the driving to be over.

More updates later. I have no idea when I'll be back online since I haven't scheduled my internet to be setup in Las Vegas yet and don't know if the next place we stay at will have internet.
